OXNARD, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/08/14 -- CalAmp® (NASDAQ: CAMP), a leading provider of wireless products, services and solutions, announced today that the Mecklenburg County (North Carolina) Government Business Support Services Agency will deploy CalAmp's wireless devices and FleetOutlook® fleet tracking solution across 1,100 assets. The deployment will track, monitor and manage the County's large, mixed-use fleet of service vehicles and non-motorized assets.

"Following an extensive competitive review process, we selected CalAmp's FleetOutlook because it met our needs to better monitor and manage our mobile assets, providing more efficient and productive service delivery for our customers," noted Rodney Harris, Division Director within the Mecklenburg County Business Support Services Agency.

The five-year contract calls for the County-wide deployment of the comprehensive FleetOutlook GPS fleet tracking and report management solution, along with the installation of CalAmp's latest-generation LMU-2620 wireless vehicle location-and-messaging units and TTU-720 asset trackers powered by ultra-long life batteries. The combined services provide broad functionality and scalability for the County's mixed-fleet of government service vehicles, including sheriff's office sedans, heavy and light duty trucks, cargo and service vans, trailers and off-road equipment. FleetOutlook will enable County fleet managers to use a single, web-based management program to view real-time equipment location and status, and receive comprehensive reporting and analytics. FleetOutlook's robust mobile applications will enable the County's fleet managers and supervisors to gain valuable fleet insight and communicate with drivers whether they are in the office or out in the field.

FleetOutlook integrates easily with third-party applications, which enables Mecklenburg County managers to combine location and status information into existing reporting and management systems. With complete visibility into their fleet operations, Mecklenburg County fleet managers will know where, when and how the fleet is performing, contributing to better fuel consumption, and improved driver performance and productivity -- all while increasing fleet safety and enhancing customer service.

"Our SaaS-based FleetOutlook service is ideally suited for managing mixed-use fleets of service vehicles and non-motorized assets. The robust data capture and analytics reporting native to our GPS fleet management solution deliver insight and drive the efficiencies and safety improvements that Mecklenburg County requires, all in an easily integrated SaaS-based system that will serve them today and well into the future," said Mike Zachan, Senior Vice President and General Manager of CalAmp's Wireless Networks business.
