WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - July 15, 2014) - Nextgov.com, the #1 federal technology site(1), today launched a free iPhone app that delivers daily alerts on current government threat levels, data breaches and news and commentary from its award-winning team of reporters.

As a mobile extension of Nextgov's digital destination and cyber breach dashboard, ThreatWatch, Cybersecurity provides a snapshot of recent cyber events that have compromised individuals' and organizations' data in addition to the latest developments in protecting critical networks and digital information.

The app offers a Threat Level rating based on data collected by HackSurfer, a cybercrime news and information hub owned and managed by SurfWatch Labs, and includes a trend graph with threat levels from the previous week for various sectors.

"With the potential risk of cybercrimes constantly evolving, we've aimed to provide daily updates for the Nextgov audience to access on the go," said Camille Tuutti, Nextgov Executive Editor. "There's difficulty in identifying which threats are a cause for concern. Cybersecurity is customized in the sense that the user can get the Threat Level specific to their industry."

Cybersecurity is produced by Nextgov, the technology brand of Government Executive Media Group and part of Atlantic Media. Nextgov.com is visited by more federal managers each day than any online destination dedicated to the federal technology community.(1)

Cybersecurity is now available for download in the App Store.
