TAMPA, FL--(Marketwired - August 26, 2014) - Nextech, a leading provider of fully integrated electronic medical records (EMR), practice management and marketing software solutions for specialty physician practices, is pleased to announce 26 of its clients have successfully attested to Stage 2 of the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs. In addition, 981 of its clients attested for Stage 1 in 2013, prior to the beginning of the Stage 2 reporting period.

In August 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published the Stage 2 meaningful use criteria that eligible professionals, eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals must meet to continue participating in the EHR Incentive Programs and avoid payment adjustments. While Stage 2 encompasses the core and menu structure for meaningful use objectives, many have increased in specificity and new objectives have been introduced. To demonstrate meaningful use under this updated criteria, eligible professionals must meet 17 core objectives and three menu objectives selected from a list of six, for a total of 20 core objectives. Focus areas of these new objectives include an increased emphasis on patient engagement, clinical decision support and computerized provider order entry.

To prepare its clients for the new standards, Nextech sent reminders on timing, proactively scheduled system upgrades, provided training materials and facilitated one-on-one training sessions. In addition, Nextech reviewed MU data collection for its clients one month prior to attestation and participated in the live attestation processes alongside its clients.

"Nextech's assistance with preparing and attesting for Stage 2 took the bulk of the process away from our staff, allowing us to do what we do best -- patient care," said Dr. Marc Feldman of Feldman-Rayfield Cosmetic Surgery, PC. "This is our fourth year attesting meaningful use, and we could not have done it without Nextech. The entire meaningful use team is reliable, knowledgeable and always willing to help."

Nextech's is among the first specialty specific solutions to be certified for meaningful use in 2014 as a Complete EHR by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), an Authorized Certification Body. Its 2014 version is pre-configured with specialty templates that can be easily customized to fit the exact workflow of each physician.

"As the industry looks toward Stage 2 to provide more integrated and enhanced care, we've continued our commitment to client success by providing a dedicated, concierge approach to attestation, with a team of EMR specialists trained in MU data collection and attestation," says David Henriksen, CEO of Nextech. "We are happy for the 26 practices that have already met the Stage 2 requirements and look forward to the success of more than 1,000 eligible providers using our 2014 certified version."
