SOMERSET, N.J., Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Rangam Consultants Inc., an IT and non-IT staffing firm specializing in supporting contingent workforce programs for Fortune 500 clients of managed service providers, has received the 2014 ASA Care Awards after successfully launching corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in order to educate and employ individuals with special needs. Rangam, along with three other staffing companies, one associate member and one ASA-affiliated chapter, will be officially honored in October at the Staffing World 2014 convention and expo to be held at National Harbor, Maryland.

The Somerset-based firm was selected by a panel of independent judges who evaluated the nominee's contribution to the U.S. economy, job market, and special interest communities. Rangam Cares, the CSR division of the parent body, works in collaboration with several special needs education institutes and autism advocacy organizations to promote employment opportunities for people with high-functioning autism. At the same time, subsidiary unit WebTeam Corporation develops multi-utility mobile apps to help autistic children and adults develop basic academic skills and get ready for mainstreaming and employment.

"This award is very important for Rangam. Recognition from the American Staffing Association is a huge honor for us as we are committed to boosting the employment rate for both regular and autistic individuals," President Hetal Parikh said. "We are seeking support and opportunities for collaboration from our existing clients to sustain our special needs employment program through which we want to serve a much bigger part of the autism community. Most people with autism are extraordinarily talented in whatever they love to pursue. So I would urge corporations to place these individuals in jobs appropriate for their skill level."

"I would like to thank the Rangam Cares team for their hard work and dedication in reaching out to autism families and special needs schools with mobile apps developed by WebTeam," Hetal added. "I would also take this opportunity to thank the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Eden Autism Services and Dr. Michael Lewis for their valuable support, guidance and collaboration over the past three years."

"We need to address the unemployment issue with a greater sense of urgency," Nish Parikh, WebTeam CEO, said. "Without awareness and action, autism can, and does, limit the prospects of higher education and employment. About one in three high school graduates with autism attends college or pursues vocational courses. More than half the adult population with autism does not have a paid job during the first seven years after high school. Nearly half a million autistic children will become autistic adults in the next 10 years. These figures lay down a very clear mandate: the society cannot remain indifferent to autism and its adverse impact on the economy. We need to act and act fast. WebTeam is ready to help parents and school districts make optimal use of their resources and expertise. Our efforts to help young adults on the spectrum live an independent life will continue unabated."
