HERZELIA, Israel -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Tehuti Networks, a fabless semiconductor company focused on enabling mass adoption of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE), today announced the demonstration of end-to-end storage to workstation uncompressed 4K media delivery enabled by Tehuti TN4010 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) controller at Intel Developer Forum San Francisco September 9 through September 11, 2014. For high throughput applications, such as post production workflow, ingesting, editing, color grading, and media rendering, such a system can sustain seamless 4K media transfer over standard 10GbE networks to improve user productivity.
Thanks to digital projection in movie theatres and huge flat-screen TVs at home, more video today is being shot in UHD (3840x2160) and 4K (4096×2160) resolutions. The video may be stored compressed or uncompressed but must be streamed uncompressed for many editing, rendering, and other post-production workflows. However, uncompressed 4K is beyond the capacity of Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) networking.
Furthermore, modern workstations and Ultrabooks may lack even 1GbE connectivity or the capability to deploy an internal PCIe 10GbE network card (NIC), but may be equipped with a Thunderbolt TM connector capable of delivering up to 20Gbps. The Tehuti 10GBase-T Thunderbolt TM 2 adapter prototype brings high speed networking to these systems.
Tehuti TN4010 10GbE controllers can seamlessly enable delivery of uncompressed 4K streams to the desktop. As a result, customers can support more 4K video workflows at a lower cost with a simpler network, so they can focus on producing the next great blockbuster movie or hit TV series instead of managing GbE link aggregation.
