Hershey Technologies, an industry leader in content capture, document management and business process automation solutions, is pleased to announce their strategic partnership with Adobe Software www.adobe.com and Kofax Image Products www.kofax.com, to supply and support an electronic forms (eForms) processing solution. Adobe and Kofax are leading providers of process automation software. "Hershey Technologies' expertise in providing fillable online PDF forms and understanding of document imaging recognition technologies, are key reasons why they were selected to participate in this Kofax Image Products sponsored program, " said David Oldfield Kofax's Adobe partner manager.

   Companies and government agencies that process large volumes of fill-and-print paper forms will benefit greatly with the ability to automate the data collection process with Hershey Technologies' eForms solution. "This technology will tightly integrate hybrid paper and electronic based systems, by capturing data and inserting it directly to an organizations' line of business application", said Neal Fischer, Principal of Hershey Technologies.

   Users fill out an on-line fillable form which will generate a 2D barcode. This barcode encapsulates all of the user's data on the electronic document. The form is then printed and can now be scanned into a Kofax's Ascent Capture content capture system for validation and verification. The data on the form is extracted from the barcode, once it is scanned, without the need of manual data entry or OCR processing. The form data can now be directly exported into a database, work flow or line of business application. eForms processing dramatically reduces the costly and error prone step of manual data entry.

   The features of using an eForms solution are:

   *Employs a single solution for both paper based and electronic forms applications

   *Quickly gets key data into your system for action by employees

   *Minimizes on-site paper storage requirements

   *Reduces IT system administration and development costs to create templates by using 2D barcodes for data extraction

   *Reduces time required to get a new or updated form into an existing capture system because no templates need to be designed

   *Provides a 7 x 24 self-serve solution

   *Leverages designated workflows, shortens your implementation time, and reduces deployment costs

   The benefits of using an eForms process are;

   Improves service and responsiveness to customers by providing online and printed easy-to-use forms and documents that people can complete offline (fill and print). Also, this technology provides the ability to be more responsive to changes in data capture requirements. PDF forms can also be created and deployed in a fraction of the time and cost required for HTML or other "roll your own" approaches to on-line forms. Thus data is captured quickly at the lowest possible cost.

   Improves internal efficiencies by eliminating manual data entry and automatically transferring data to core systems, and by automating routine, redundant, and expensive labor tasks. Data captured in the barcode is a 100% accurate representation of data supplied from the end user. Using bar code technology can speed the process by not requiring OCR on all documents going through the system (for classification or document separation purposes).

   Reduces costs associated with paper and application integration by using Intelligent Documents and forms that reduce the need for custom programming and eliminate paper printing, storage, and distribution. Traditionally, very accurate forms processing requires substantial manual labor to review and validate results and to "tune" the OCR system. Bar codes reduce costs by reducing the number of data entry, validation and quality assurance clerks required to capture data accurately. Administrative overhead is reduced by enabling a single capture solution to setup and handle multiple sources of forms (scan, fax, email).
