Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ:WBSN) , a global leader in web security and web filtering productivity software, and CP Secure, Inc., a leading innovator of real-time anti-malware solutions for enterprise-class organizations, announced today that the CP Secure(TM) Content Security Gateway(TM) (CSG) appliance is now available integrated with Websense(R) Web Security Suite(TM) software. This joint solution combines best-of-breed web security capabilities from Websense and CP Secure to provide comprehensive web filtering security, web anti-malware scanning, and policy controls for customers seeking advanced, layered protection against web-based spyware, viruses, and other malware.
Increasingly, today's malware programs attack through web traffic. While most organizations have been focused on securing their e-mail traffic, malware programs have been successfully attacking through the web vector since the 2001 Nimda worm. Spyware is a rapidly growing threat to organizations today because it infiltrates networks and infects computers through the undefended web. Computer users need only inadvertently surf to a malware-hosting website, click on a link in an e-mail, or view web mail, and they can be victim to spyware and other malicious software.
CP Secure's CSG appliances enable pass-through web security capabilities for Websense Web Security Suite at the internet gateway through an off-the-box integration. CP Secure's stream-based scanning technology scans high volumes of web and SSL-encrypted web traffic in real-time for all known spyware and viruses, without turning the internet gateway into a network bottleneck. Stream-based scanning is the first and only scanning architecture designed from the ground up to protect real-time internet traffic against today's web-based threats. The CSGs also provide e-mail security features such as e- mail anti-malware scanning and anti-spam for comprehensive security against blended internet threats.
"In today's world, proactive protection at the gateway from all forms of web and email-based malware is a basic requirement," said David Lu, president and CEO of CP Secure, Inc. "With the CP Secure-Websense integrated solution, customers of all sizes get the most comprehensive web security solution against spyware and viruses at the internet gateway, without sacrificing network performance."
The Websense Web Security Suite, integrated with the CSG appliances, offers another layer of protection through proactive, real-time blocking of malicious websites, spyware backchannel communication, unwanted file attachments, botnet traffic, and other web-based threats. The integration also provides customers the ability to enforce granular user-based policies for SSL-encrypted traffic, extending manageability to security risks from such traffic. Organizations can also extend their perimeter web security to remote users and frequent travelers by utilizing Websense Remote Filtering. This solution allows organizations to apply internet usage policies to protect users from web-based security threats like phishing sites, sites that contain spyware, and sites corrupted with malicious code, even when they are outside traditional network boundaries.
"A layered approach to security is the most effective means of filling the gaps within an organization's network and preventing exposure to today's complex internet-based threats," said Steve Kelley, director of strategic alliances for Websense, Inc. "The joint solution between CP Secure and Websense offers customers multi-layered, maximum protection from internet attacks by combining Websense best-of-breed web filtering security with CP Secure's innovative real-time anti-malware scanning technology."
CP Secure is a member of the Websense Web Security Ecosystem(TM) -- a comprehensive framework of technology integrations that provides enhanced security and ease of deployment of Websense web security solutions in enterprise environments.
