Verari Systems , the premier developer of powerful, platform-independent blade computing systems, today announced that it will introduce new server platforms based on Next-Generation AMD Opteron Processors. Customers can see outstanding performance-per-watt, investment protection and improved business capabilities through efficient dual-core technology, low-power/high-bandwidth DDR2 memory, AMD Virtualization (AMD-V ) technology support and the quad-core ready Socket F (1207) infrastructure.
"Our product development goals are essentially aligned with those of AMD in regard to reducing total cost of ownership (TCO), improving power efficiency and continuing thermal leadership," said David B. Wright, CEO, Verari Systems. "Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors are designed to accomplish these goals and to allow seamless dual-core to quad-core upgrades in the same thermal infrastructure without compromising memory RAS. This will reduce platform costs through DDR2 DIMM memory technology."
AMD Virtualization is available across Verari Systems' broad, thermally-efficient line of AMD Opteron processor-based servers, improving business functionality and flexibility by reducing hardware and space requirements. Founded on Direct Connect Architecture, which reduces bottlenecks inherent in traditional front-side bus architectures, AMD Virtualization is designed to simplify virtualization software execution to reduce CPU overhead.
"By powering Verari Systems' power efficient line of servers, AMD is able to extend our contribution to the enterprise community, delivering industry leading performance-per-watt for running critical enterprise applications," said Pat Patla, Director, Server/Workstation Marketing, AMD (NYSE:AMD). "Through the proven strengths of Direct Connect Architecture, Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors are a step forward in the movement toward datacenter consolidation, providing virtualization technology capabilities and thermal leadership critical to success for the enterprise customer."
Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors are founded upon a common core architecture with a long-established track record of leadership in performance and energy-efficiency. In 2003, AMD Opteron processors set the standard in performance-per-watt with the revolutionary Direct Connect Architecture. In 2005, Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors delivered significantly more performance capability in the same thermal envelope as single-core AMD Opteron processors. Now, Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors define a new standard in performance-per-watt with energy efficient DDR2 memory support and outstanding AMD PowerNow! Technology capabilities. Additionally, Next-Generation AMD Opteron processors are designed to provide a seamless upgrade path to Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor-based platforms in 2007 without compromising energy efficiency.
