Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS), a subsidiary of Consulier Engineering (Nasdaq:CSLR), today announced that Providence Heart and Vascular Institute, part of Providence Health & Services – Oregon Region, has selected the company’s Amelior ORTracker software to improve the efficiency of its invasive cardiology units. Providence has been utilizing the company’s tracking software in the surgical services departments of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and Providence Portland Medical Center since 2003. Recently Providence St. Vincent selected PCTS to automatically track patients and assets in the Radiology department. PCTS will be exhibiting its department-specific and enterprise-wide tracking solutions at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference in Orlando, Florida on February 25-28 in booth 2221. Each year at the institute, more than 13,000 patients benefit from the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment and cardiac surgery. Through clinical research trials, patients here also have access to many new therapies before they become widely available. The automatic patient and asset tracking software communicates the real-time location of personnel and equipment by integrating with a real-time location system (RTLS). Wireless personnel and equipment badges communicate their real-time location using ultrasound, infrared or radio frequency signals to a network of receivers positioned throughout the department. The RTLS sends the location information to the Amelior ORTracker software which presents the information to busy caregivers without any manual data entry required. Workflow intelligence within the software measures location, movement and interactions between staff, patient and mobile equipment to recognize patient care milestones as they occur. Staff utilizes the software as a centralized workflow portal through which they communicate alerts and identify roadblocks to patient care progression.
