The latest benchmark analysis insight from the Strategy Analytics Wireless Media Lab, "Upload Process Weakness for Otherwise Cool YouTube Mobile,” evaluates the recently launched YouTube mobile video sharing and viewing application across a number of core features including identifying and playing a video, logging into ‘My Account,’ searching for a video, uploading a video and accessing top-rated videos.
Other than minor issues related to the video uploading process, Strategy Analytics has determined that the YouTube mobile application has no major usability issues. Participants had overall positive reactions to this mobile application’s ability to complete all tasks—with one notable exception pertaining to the video upload task.
Paul Brown, Senior User Experience Research Analyst at Strategy Analytics commented “The YouTube mobile application worked well for logging into personal accounts, searching for specific videos, and accessing top-rated YouTube videos.”
Christopher Dodge, User Experience Research Analyst at Strategy Analytics added, “Providing a faster and more streamlined alternative to side-loading and MMS uploading of video content is a critical success factor for mobile user-generated content solutions.”
This user experience benchmark report can be accessed by clients to the Strategy Analytics Wireless Media Laboratory service at: www.strategyanalytics.net/press/pr00549.htm
