"The OR is often the financial engine of a hospital and for it to be successful from a business perspective, you need the right tools to drive efficiency," said Jason Barrett, Chief Operating Officer at Flagler Hospital. "Most importantly, advanced functionality provided by SIS will help us continue to excel in bringing the best in quality care while also enhancing value for our patients."
Sunrise Surgery powered by SIS will support Flagler's goals of optimizing operating room (OR) performance by implementing a single perioperative record and includes modules for:
-- Surgical scheduling including preadmission testing, supporting goals to reduce day of surgery delays and cancellations; -- Nursing documentation and an anesthesia information management system (AIMS) designed to streamline clinical workflows; -- Rules-based charging to accurately capture and bill for all charges -- Role-based analytics to assist in better understanding and managing surgical operations, including anesthesia-specific information; and -- Patient tracking through all phases of care to improve communications and core metrics including on time case starts and room turnover times.
Interoperability between Sunrise Surgery and Flagler's health information system, Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager(TM), will facilitate the flow of patient information throughout the perioperative continuum. "The ability to build a comprehensive perioperative record throughout the perioperative continuum gives our clinicians the information they need - when they need it and where they need it," said Bill Rieger, CIO at Flagler. "The entire care team can use this data to support quality initiatives and efficiency improvements."
"Using clearly-visible and highly-integrated patient data within the OR space reduces costs and streamlines efficiencies in this critical environment," said Ed Daihl, SIS Chief Executive Officer. "Flagler recognizes the importance of maintaining a healthy OR and we are honored to help them further advance OR excellence with SIS."
