Vivint [2], the largest home automation services company in North America, today announced the appointment of Matthew Eyring as the company’s chief strategy and innovation officer. In this newly created position, Eyring will lead the organization’s directional growth initiatives in home automation, residential security, and solar markets as well as provide guidance and direction on new initiatives.

Eyring was most recently the managing partner of Innosight, a global strategy and innovation consulting firm co-founded by Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christensen. At Innosight, Eyring led worldwide strategy and operations, as well as the healthcare and emerging markets practices. Eyring joined Innosight as a partner in 2001, and was instrumental over a decade in helping the firm grow to its current leadership position.

Prior to Innosight, Eyring was vice president and general manager at LavaStorm, an internet professional services company. He also worked as a product manager in the cardiac surgery division of medical device manufacturer Medtronic.

Eyring currently serves on the board of Virgin Health Miles, part of the United Kingdom-based Virgin Group, and is a technical advisor to the US Department of Health and Human Services Innovation Fellows program. He is the co-author of several Harvard Business Review articles, including last month’s Two Routes to Resilience.
