Vangard Voice Systems Inc., providing professional-grade tools for fast, easy integration of speech into enterprise applications, today announced the appointment of Walt Straub as chairman of its board of directors, and Bob Bova, president and CEO of Vangard Voice Systems as a member of the board of directors. Straub was named to the Vangard Voice board of directors in March of this year and replaced Frederick McKee, who retired as board chairman. Bova was appointed to fill the open seat on the board.
"I am honored to be named chairman of the board and look forward to leading the company's efforts to expand its market share, extend its product offerings and other growth initiatives that will accelerate voice-enabling enterprise applications," said Straub.
Straub is former co-founder of Rainbow Technologies Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of security products that protect against software privacy, and served as president and chief executive officer from 1993 through March of 2004 when it merged with SafeNet, a global leader in information security.
"I wish to extend my thanks to Fred, and to welcome Walt as our new chairman," Bova said. "Vangard Voice is poised to make great strides in bringing voice enablement to enterprise applications in the healthcare, public safety, field service, insurance, manufacturing, logistics and transportation markets and we are very excited about executing our new sales and marketing strategies, business development programs and partnership initiatives under Walt's direction."
Vangard Voice System's patented AccuSPEECH(R) solution provides the critical development layer of connectivity between the voice engine and the application, enabling voice as the input method of choice for data in forms, turning speech into information at the point of action.
AccuSPEECH enables application developers to embed speech into the application through a graphic development tool set, providing a cost-effective, reliable and scalable solution that allows companies to use voice as an efficient way to input data into almost any application.
Straub serves on the board of directors for SafeNet, and CAM Commerce Solutions, a public company specializing in point-of-sale software and hardware and e-commerce solutions. He was also appointed to the board of trustees of Drexel University where he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in finance, and serves on Concordia University's President's Advisory Council.
