Catalog Spree Triples Customer Base in Two Months

The 2012 holiday shopping season in particular has proven that digital catalogs are no longer niche. According to a recent Catalog Spree survey, 69 percent of consumers planned to use digital catalogs to gain inspiration for gift ideas this year, in line with the trend toward digital shopping. In addition, an IBM report on holiday shopping showed that the iPad generated more traffic than any other tablet or smartphone on Thanksgiving or Black Friday – accounting for nearly 10 percent of online shopping.
“Just as the book industry has gone digital, so has the catalog industry. Digital catalogs have given a new life to direct marketing, and as a result, there will be more catalogs, not fewer,” said Ruiz.
Estimates show that digital catalogs are expected to grow tenfold in 2013 – up from 10 million in 2012. Catalog Spree’s customers are highly engaged and spend more than 145 minutes per month on average on the app.
Since its launch in April 2011, Catalog Spree has grown to feature more than 350 catalogs, including top tier brands like Lands’ End, L.L. Bean, Tory Burch, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and One Kings Lane, which have leveraged the fast-growing digital catalog space as a channel for new customer acquisition. In fact, a staggering 70 percent of Catalog Spree traffic to retailers comes from new customers.
