Former Representative Bono Mack to Serve as Honorary Chairperson

WASHINGTON, Feb. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Feb. 7, 2013, a new organization - Rally2Recovery.org - will hold a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC from 9:30-10:30 AM to launch an unprecedented campaign for people suffering from the disease of addiction in response to the prescription drug epidemic sweeping the nation. Preliminary plans for a rally on the National Mall in September will also be announced.

The effort is being is led by Fmr. Rep. Mary Bono Mack, Hon. Chair of Rally2Recovery & Event Chair, Lynda Carter.

Dr. Andrew Kolodny, president, Physicians for Responsible Opioid Prescribing (Brooklyn, NY) and Dr. Quinlan Strong, Program Director, Hope by the Sea (San Juan Capistrano, CA) will be on hand to speak about this initiative. Dr. Kolodny will discuss the dangers of overprescribing opioids for pain. Dr. Strong will discuss the deadly results of mixing alcohol with opioids, benzodiazepines and "U.S. hot zones" where young people are being disproportionately affected.
