Baptist Health Plan Becomes First Aldera Client to Go Live With Pre-Integrated Online Payment Solution

Aldera, a leading provider of core administration and private portal solutions for healthcare payers and administrators, today announced that Kentucky-based Baptist Health Plan (BHP) is live with individual online payment capabilities. The fully integrated solution gives individuals purchasing a BHP policy through Kynect, Kentucky’s Health Exchange, the ability to make secure, premium payments online using the Aldera Member Portal.

Baptist Health Plan, which is backed by Baptist Health, a large not-for-profit healthcare system in Kentucky, exceeded its 2015 exchange enrollment projections by about 600 percent and needed an online payment solution that could scale easily. That, coupled with the desire to improve the overall member experience through ease of payments, was the key reason Baptist Health Plan chose the solution.

“I was impressed with how quickly and easily we were able to get the online payment system up and running,” said Preston Gorman, Director of Information Technology at Baptist Health Plan. “Because the online payment solution was pre-integrated with our existing platform (Aldera), we went from offering paper billing and payment to an insurance purchasing experience just like any other online shopping experience. The end-to-end implementation took only 45 days.”

Aldera’s pre-integrated online payment solution allows groups and members to access account summary information, schedule reoccurring premium payments, make one-time payments and view updated account balances immediately via the Aldera Member Portal. The solution is a key component of Aldera’s Shop2Manage™ Engagement Model for connected healthcare engagement, which allows members, providers and payers to analyze, engage and manage healthcare. A piece of that model is providing members with online payment capabilities that mirror other retail shopping experiences.

With the implementation, Baptist Health Plan now processes the vast majority of its Individual Exchange premium payments online. Baptist Health Plan is also able to offer online payment capabilities for individuals purchasing policies directly on the BHP website, and will extend the functionality to group payments later this summer.
