OpenFabrics Alliance Announces its 2016 Workshop Dates

The OpenFabrics Alliance (OFA) today announced the dates of its next OpenFabrics Alliance Workshop – April 4-8, 2016, at the Monterey Marriott in Monterey, California. The annual workshop is a must-attend event for anyone interested in understanding or influencing the direction of RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) use in HPC, in the enterprise data center, or in the Cloud. Users and administrators of RDMA fabrics will find the workshop and the access it provides to network experts invaluable.

The workshop gathers the leaders in the networking industry to discuss the advances in RDMA fabrics and challenges faced by IT managers deploying next generation data centers. This year the workshop will continue its focus on facilitating the delivery of network services to applications that consume them with a special emphasis on integrating those consumers into the OFA community. The goals for this workshop are to:

  • Ensure that the OFA continues to be responsive to the needs of network-based applications
  • Drive continuous improvements in networking technology by ensuring the alignment of OpenFabrics Software (OFS) development with technology trends
  • Increase understanding of how OFS is deployed and how underlying networks are managed by discussing administration issues and their solutions
  • Provide a space for vendors, developers, consumers and users of network technology to collaborate and network.

Speakers and attendees at OFA workshops have included representatives from consumers of the technology such as National Labs, Universities and enterprise, as well as vendors of hardware equipment and major operating systems.

Information on the keynote speaker and the agenda will be posted on the OFA Workshop web site. Proceedings from past Developers’ and User Group workshops can also be found there.

About the OpenFabrics Alliance

The OpenFabrics Alliance (OFA) is a 501(c) (6) non-profit company that develops, tests, licenses and distributes the OpenFabrics Software (OFS) – multi-platform, high-performance, low-latency and energy-efficient open-source RDMA software. OpenFabrics Software is used in business, operational, research and scientific infrastructures that require fast fabrics/networks, efficient storage and low-latency computing. OFS is included in major Linux distributions, as well as Microsoft Windows Server 2012. In addition to developing and supporting this RDMA software, the Alliance delivers workshops and interoperability testing to ensure all releases meet multivendor enterprise requirements for security, reliability and efficiency.
